The Board of St. Cloud Pride wants to thank all our generous sponsors and enthusiastic participants for helping make St. Cloud Pride 2012 such an amazing success. With well over 3,000 people joining in the celebration over the four days, we know we were successful in raising awareness and recognition of the LGBTA community in Central Minnesota. You have our sincere gratitude and we can’t wait to see you again this year.

The Marriage Bill

 At 5 p.m. May 14, 2013 Governor Mark Dayton signed legislation making Minnesota the 12th state in our nation to recognize same-sex marriage. This landmark action makes available to same-sex couples 515 legal rights that previously had been exclusive to opposite-sex married couples. These rights and benefits could have a profound impact on members of the Central Minnesota community. 

 Eliminating homophobia and heterosexism is core to the mission of St. Cloud Pride, and this new law will provide critical support for our work. We recognize as a community that it is an integral part of our shared mission to create a supportive, inclusive, welcoming and safe environment for all our community members. As a community we are most effective, when we are intentional about removing barriers that hinder our community members’ ability to live their lives truthfully and authentically. Recognition and acceptance of all forms of diversity supports this important objective. 

 We invite you in joining us in celebrating together this historic step toward our shared goals of equality and social justice. We would like to thank the many wonderful community members, organizations, and businesses of the Central Minnesota community who have demonstrated their commitment to diversity in the broadest sense, including those who have offered their support to the LGBT community.
